Our maiden project was the creation of the Curaçao 311 app. A platform for citizens by citizens to collect valuable data about everyday issues that plague the island of Curaçao.
Our vision was to stimulate the sense of social responsibility and participation among the local community. Users are able to take pictures of our everyday issues through the mobile application and submit geo-tagged reports that are then publicly displayed on the Curaçao 311 website. The report categories range from infrastructural deficiencies, such as potholes in the street, accessibility restrictions and broken power lines, to humanitarian and environmental issues such as stray animals, illegal dumping and garbage on the streets. The collected data is shared with any government entity or non-profit organization that is interested through a dashboard where the data can be used to reach data-driven policies that are more efficient. Solutions for our everyday problems lead to a happier community.
Our project has received the 2019 Curaçao Innovation Award awarded by the Curaçao Institute of Technology and Innovation (CITI).
