In March 2021, a new mobile app was launched by Autobusbedrijf Curaçao N.V. in collaboration with our foundation. Data from the GPS transmitters on ABC’s buses allowed us to create a detailed schedule of bus departure times per stop. Users can now see the scheduled departure times from all (over 1000) bus stops on the island in the ABC Curaçao app.

This level of detail gave us, as developers of the app, the possibility to also include a sophisticated trip planner. With the trip planner users can just enter their destination and the app will give them several options to reach that destination using public transport, complete with exact times, bus (stop) information, and even the price of the bus fare. This will be a much-used feature for local people, but even more so for tourists.
Besides the bus stop information and the trip planner the app also contains the classic ABC schedule and maps of the different routes that service the island. The app automatically stays up-to-date using the internet, but you can also use most of its functionalities offline. While the app is available now and is ready to be used by everyone, further development of the app still continues. Future additions will be to include live data of the bus locations in the app. This will allow online users to get more accurate predictions of when the bus is due to arrive at a stop, even if it’s delayed or early. Especially on the longer routes with unpredictable traffic patterns this will be a big improvement.
